ENDOPLEXED

MH Sarkis

For our fourth episode, Future Artefacts FM presented MH Sarkis’ work ‘Endoplexed’, a sixteen minute soundscape. Collaging audio snippets from Blade Runner to classical piano, we hear a conversation about a spider laying an egg in the middle of her web, soon after the egg hatches, 100s of baby spiders and released and consume their mother. The brutally brief description of motherhood sets the tone for this soundscape, which uses sensory experience, the wailing of a woman and pitch of a sonogram, to provoke an open-narrative about the technological futures of fertility, and reproductive technologies.
